brett

So, Aaron, Bretts older brother and Sally, Bretts mom took a trip out to see him in Korea back in May. I sent Poppas Falcone hat with Aaron to give to Brett to take pictures with because I thought Grandpa would like it. The pictures came a week later than I would have liked. Still, I posted maybe we can appreciate a neon orange Falcone hat.

oh P.S. my left shift key broke yesterday. Have you ever tried working with the right shift key? I mean my WPM time has just been cut in half.

Books, check'em out!

You know when you read a great book and it brings that passion and inspiration back... well i've been reading one of those. So everyone, READ A GOOD BOOK!!!! They are out there, those authors who are not generic, those who have the gift of gab, those who can speak so poetic it's almost sickening, those who can make life more livable, those who with one sentence can summarize the way you've felt all week! just keep reading. good tv can never take the place of colorful language, regardless of the cunningness and wit of those involved, the written word can express emotions that you didn't feel could be put into words!!! so KEEP READING, whatever it is...vogue, spin, twilight, frog pajamas, the tribune...whatev..lets just keep it up!!! and support those who use their talent for our pleasure!

You Buggin'

What bugs...

1. Wet Floors, I've always hated that feeling of my dirty feet on a wet floor. Just the thought make my face cringe.

2. Bikers who do not pick a side then suddenly we are stopped because they decided to go right when I was already on the right. (my tire is actually bent because of one of these "misunderstandings"

3. People who are disrespectful to elders, teachers or really anyone.

4. Bad lyrics (Nickleback? Yuck)

5. Really greasy hair. I know it's silly but seriously just wash it, dude, you are absolutely grossing me out.

6. Dishonesty

7. Rocko, (the dog) tracking mud onto my nice white comforter

8. Forgetting to switch my laundry to the dryer

9. Believe it or not, now that I am older, it really bugs me to be late. Ask me about 3 years ago and I wouldn't have cared but I've learned how important it is.

10. Tyra Banks!!! Major Bug, girl you are not smart...

(These are largely a reflection of what is currently happening in my life!)

Pictures!

We call this Christmas in Korea!

These mounds are all over Kyeongju. They are the tombs of previous kings. They are enormous.

This is the Chomsongda observatory, it was built for a princess who wanted to see the stars.

Rice, it's what's for dinner?

We did a temple stay for one night, this is entrance gate. It was up in the mountains and really beautiful. The temple stay was a great experience, too. We slept on the floor, I met a strange Polish girl. We arrived just in time for dinner. We ate traditional soup, seaweed, bean sprouts and rice. It was delicious. After dinner we watched a video on Sunmudo and then received training, for 90 minutes. It is a martial art and believe me it was difficult. The guy had us challenging our quads for about 70 of the 90 minutes. The next day we woke up at 4am to do a nature walk and have a traditional breakfast ceremony. Then we piled in the bus and had another training session on the beach. This is also where the Tomb of King Munmu was, which is and underwater tomb surrounded by four rocks. It was really pretty. We practiced archery and played a sport that is a combo of soccer and volleyball. It was great!

Look closely at the wall.
This is the Divine Bell of King Songdok. On New Years they actually rang it. It wasn't as loud as thought it would be.

This is my Sunmudo training in action.
Yes, we rented a tandem bike! It was so much fun!

Brett is at the top in his black jacket, look closely you can see him.

Look at all those Asians!

The END

P.S. Merry Christmas Everyone. Also, SKYPE, everyone should try to get on and create a user name. It's really easy, free and we can chat anytime. My user name is evgardner, just search for me and we'll be friends!!

Happy Holidays!!!

Hello Everyone-

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!  We had dinner with some friends, played guesstures, pictionary and all those fun games. Brett got me a camera, a whole lotta socks, a couple cute shirts, hand lotion and the little things. I got Brett a bunch of design magazines, books, sweaters,  and all the little things. (Always need a new toothbrush for the year) Our vacation was really great. We checked out a lot of ancient temples, did a temple stay, hung out with the seagulls on the beach, rode a tandem bike through the boonies in the freezing cold. (which was the best day ever) Spent New Years on the beaches of Busan! (still freezing cold) Brett and I are back home for today and will be heading out to the DMZ tomorrow. (About as close to getting in to North Korea as is possible for tourist! Scary right? I've heard some pretty wild stuff, I'll report back and let you all know how it goes.) It has been really great to expierience another country but I must admit I'm ready to home! All of my love!!!
